ATEK Access Technologies Works with Donaldson Company to Develop AssetScan Remote Filter Monitor

AssetScan is a cutting-edge comprehensive platform of hardware, software and data analytic services for monitoring devices’ data

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (March 7, 2015) – ATEK Access Technologies worked with Donaldson Company, Inc. (NYSE:DCI) to jointly develop a revolutionary solution to give original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of bulk fuel filtration systems access to their devices’ intelligent data.

AssetScan is ATEK Access Technologies’ first comprehensive platform of hardware, software and data analytic services for the manufacturing industry. It lets OEMs connect their products to the cloud, allowing their static assets to “speak” for improved efficiencies and profitability. Donaldson utilized AssetScan technology to jointly create a bulk fuel filtration monitoring solution – WaveLength™ – that allows users to remotely view the status of their filter systems, giving customers the opportunity to improve operational efficiencies and uptimes. This will be a dramatic change from current practices for many end-user customers, where operators typically need to manually check to determine when a filter needs to be changed and/or change the filters after they are already plugged and slowing down fuel flow.

“We were impressed with ATEK’s state-of-the-art TankScan monitor and wanted to have something similar for our customers to monitor their filter system performance,” said Scott Grossbauer, Global Director of Clean Fuel Solutions at Donaldson Company. “By incorporating AssetScan into Donaldson’s new WaveLength™ filter monitoring solution, end users are able to get real-time filter performance data, enabling them to proactively plan and purchase required filters, minimize fueling system downtime and maximize machine uptime.”

AssetScan is an integrated, battery-powered sensor monitoring system. The all-in-one monitor also includes cellular connectivity to simplify installation. Via the web-based ATEK Intelligence Platform, the AssetScan system measures variables and transfers them to the cloud, making the data available from any internet connection. ATEK’s experienced and knowledgeable engineers and program managers work closely with customers to ensure each program implementation is successful. AssetScan monitoring is ideal for use in a wide variety of applications, such as:

  • Greenhouse temperature
  • Hydraulic pressure
  • Motor vibration
  • Reservoir level
  • Storage bin humidity
  • Water pump flow

The monitoring system also includes ATEK Service Platform (ASP) functionality. ASP monitors each AssetScan system’s health remotely, including gateway battery life, environment temperature and cellular data usage, initiating corrective measures when necessary to ensure an uninterrupted data stream.

“We’re excited about the ground-breaking AssetScan system that our co-development with Donaldson has yielded,” said Sherri McDaniel, president of ATEK Access Technologies. “Unplanned maintenance on a fuel system can cost thousands of dollars in productivity loss if equipment is out of service and waiting for filters to be changed or if fuel pumping is slowed dramatically due to plugged bulk tank filters. AssetScan filter monitors enable Donaldson’s customers to collect dynamic data on the condition of the filter system without having to rely exclusively on operator interaction.”

Founded in 1915 and based in Bloomington, MN, Donaldson (NYSE: DCI) is a global leader in the filtration industry with approximately 140 sales, manufacturing and distribution locations in 44 countries. Donaldson’s innovative filtration technologies improve people’s lives, enhance customers’ equipment performance and protect the environment. For more information, visit www.Donaldson.com.
